ERC Innovation Ecosystem Accelerator Spreads Across New York City
Outcome/Accomplishment
Students attending the Smart City Expo USA 2024 in New York City presented research projects they are conducting with support from the Center for Smart Streetscapes (NSF CS3), a U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF)-funded Engineering Research Center (ERC) based at Columbia University.
Impact/Benefits
Four students in NSF CS3’s innovation ecosystem expanded their VALIDATE Accelerator research projects to live demos and sessions with New York City residents as a step toward validation and, ultimately, implementation.
Explanation/Background
Along with the students who presented their research, NSF CS3 Director Andrew Smyth participated in a fruitful panel discussion on “Testbeds: Scaling & Piloting Frontier Tech” with leaders spanning the frontier of smart technology applications.
